What's included

12 live meetings
9 in-class hours
Homework
1 hour per week. Each class we will have a homework sheet(s) to be completed outside of class. We will discuss this during class. We will review the homework answers at the beginning of the next lesson. Homework is not mandatory but is highly encouraged. It should only take approximately 10-20 minutes to complete.
Assessment
I will send out feedback to the parents at the end of the semester. I will check in with the parents sooner if the learner is struggling in a specific area. I always welcome questions/comments during the semester.

Class Experience

US Grade 3
This semester course covers the second half of third grade math. It meets 1times per week for 12 weeks. This course follows "Fun With Third Grade Math: Semester 1". This course covers the same lessons as my ongoing class, "Ongoing Third Grade Math" that also meets once per week. My classes are interactive and fun. Learners should be familiar with place value (ones, tens, hundreds), addition/subtraction, word problems, telling time on the hour/half hour, measuring and estimating length, representing and interpreting data, and geometry. I like to engage the children and we all problem solve together. I may use props, a whiteboard, and fun animated PowerPoint slides during my lessons. I always encourage learner interaction and I check in occasionally with a thumb's up to make sure there are no questions before we proceed. I will send out a worksheet, homework or other material to be printed each week. I will also let you know if there are other materials that are needed for the week. I hope to see you in class!

Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Mount Holyoke College
Hello! My name is Erin Howard. I love teaching young learners. My passion is to help your young learner gain the knowledge and confidence in their basic math skills. My math classes focus on skills such as solving word problems, learning math fact families, place value, telling time, geometry, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

I have my bachelor’s degree from Mount Holyoke College. I have owned a home daycare, privately tutored students in math, and was a teaching assistant in college. I have taught over 8,000 classes online.

My goal is to bring fun, excitement, and passion into my classroom. It is important for young learners to be engaged, actively participate, and enjoy learning. This builds the foundation of how they will view their journey for knowledge in the future. I know I have accomplished this goal when my students continue to return to my classroom, and I see their personal improvement and how proud they are of their progress.

Outside of work, I am a mother of five children, and I have three grandchildren. My children are my pride and joy. My youngest two children are twins. They are nineteen years old and they are sophomores in college. We enjoy cooking, baking, playing with our dog, watching movies, shopping, and taking trips to visit new places.

I look forward to this journey with you and your young learner. I will see you in the classroom.
