Your teacher, me, well, I learned how to play the piano at the age of 5 with private lessons and continue to this day at close to the age of 50! If you would want to get a really expensive piano or piano keyboard that would create little to no issues for you in order to maintain, it is recommended that you purchase an expensive one used. You can clean it out thoroughly before using it with a good alkaline type liquid soap (please, only liquid) such as Dr. Bronner's liquid soaps which I use personally from head to toes. It works on instruments and even with cleaning as well. You do need to dilute it depending on what you are using it for. 
I am beyond the Grade 8 level in teaching piano. I have more than 20 years of experience with the piano at the minimum.
