This 45 minute class will focus on Safety Signs in our environment. We will be using the book, I Read Signs, by Tana Hoban. I will engage in an interactive story with your child. We will use a game that I've created called, "Safety Sign Bingo" which has been very popular in my own teaching experience with Kindergarten. Following the Bingo game, we will use watercolors to create a unique safety craft. This is a fun engaging story which focuses on learning to recognize common environmental signs. Children learn to recognize signs long before they learn to read. We will also focus on the following skills: When letters are put together they make words. Words give us information. We read from left to right. We use both words and pictures to get useful information. This story lends itself to all types of learners.

Parents will need to download the bingo boards that will be used in class. The document will be provided in the welcome message after signing up. You will also need some small markers, such as pennies, or small toys to cover the spaces on the bingo board. We will be using watercolor for our craft, but markers and paper can substitute for the paint. I will demonstrate both.
