Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
This 45 minute class will focus on the "B" sound using the book, Where Do Balloons Go?, by Jamie Lee Curtis. I will engage in an interactive story with your child. We will use magnetic pictures of items, focusing on the beginning sound and will sort the items into a sorting bag. Following the sound exploration, we will create a craft that accompanies the story. This is a fun engaging story which focuses on letting go, where a boy's imagination runs wild when he lets his balloon go into the sky. This story lends itself to all types of learners.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of the sound the letter B makes. Learning that there are predictable relationships between sounds and letters allows children to apply these relationships to both familiar and unfamiliar words, and to begin to read with fluency.
