Learning Goals
The student will learn both the short vowel and long vowel sounds. They will also learn consonants and their sounds to enable the child to begin early reading. As the child increases their knowledge of letters and sounds, their ability to read increases. They will go from simple basic reading to an increased basic level of reading. The student will learn several songs for their letters and sounds.
There will be simple homework assignments, where the student will color the long vowel sound and animal to help them learn the sound. Beginning in lesson 6 the student will have basic blends with the consonant and vowel. They will also color the vowel and consonant sound and animal characters.
As their ability grows, so will their words to read to mom and/or dad. The ability for the student to be able to increase in ability to read, they need to read their words daily and sing their songs.
Other Details
Learning Needs
I take special time wìth students that have learning issues. I may suggest that we move them to a different time, so that I can properly slow the curriculum as needed to help them. Rest assured that I will do my best to help your child.
Parental Guidance
I would appreciate a parent to sit with a young child or a child that has behavior issues. The class itself will cause no harm, but rowdy students disrupt a class.
**Also, parent, ìf your child has joined the class late, you can go to my YouTube videos to catch up and learn the sounds and songs.

Pre-Requisites
Your child needs no previous knowledge. The only prerequisite is that they know how to sit still and listen.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Pensacola Christian College - no ending time or cessation of degree
I am a retired school teacher of over 25 years. I also homeschooled my two sons from K2 through 12th grade. I am an avid teacher for reading. I have a great passion for reading. It breaks my heart that students have graduated and are graduating from high school and college with a bare 3rd grade reading level. I want to help as many children as I can learn how to read.
