Class Experience

In this one-time class, we will learn how to pronounce and read words the R-controlled vowels (ar, er, ir, or, ur). The foundation for successful reading includes learning the individual sounds that a letter, or multiple letters make together. In this fun, interactive class, the learners will be taught what "Bossy R" does to the vowels that come right before him. A, E, I, O and U make a different sound when paired with "Bossy R". Your learner should already know the basic letter sounds.

- recognize the R-controlled vowels: ar, er, ir, or, ur
- produce the phonetic sounds of the R-controlled vowels
- read words with the R-controlled vowels

Your learner may want to have a paper and pencil if they wish to practice writing some of our newly learned R-controlled vowel words.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
