Class Experience

Fun With Phonics for Beginning Readers is perfect for the young reader who has learned the letters and sounds and are ready to move on to reading words and sentences. This course is perfect for a child in Preschool, Kindergarten, or First Grade who is ready to begin reading. 
This ongoing course will provide hands on instruction in reading and writing short vowel cvc words, word families, digraphs, beginning consonant blends, and sight words. Learners will be engaged in interactive google slides, games, printouts, poems, and songs. Learners will be taught to use their phonics knowledge to sound out and read words and sentences.  Decodable books are used in each class for instruction. 

Students will need a dry erase board, dry erase marker, and eraser. 

The following content will be covered each week (you can join at any time). This class will run all school year.
Week 1: Short Vowel a - at, an, ap, am
Week 2: Short Vowel e - et, ed, en
Week 3: Short Vowel i - it, ig, in, ip
Week 4: Short Vowel o - op, ot, og
Week 5: Short Vowel u - un, ut, ug, up
Week 6: Short Vowel Review
Week 7: Digraphs sh, th
Week 8: Digraphs ch, wh
Week 9: Digraph Review
Week 10: Double Endings l, f. s, z
Week 11:Beginning L Blends - bl, cl, fl, sl
Week 12: Beginning S Blends - st, sk, sp
Week 13: Beginning R Blends - br, cr, dr, fr
Week 14: Review of all Previously Taught Skills
Week 15: Long Vowel a
Week 16: Long Vowel i
Week 17: Long Vowel o
Week 18: Long Vowel u
Week 19: Long Vowel Review
