This is a 30 minute course where students get to build a better understanding of spelling rules and practice using OU and OW! We will begin by learning about the difference between the two and how to identify them in different words. Once students are fluent with identifying OU and OW in words, we will begin spelling words using OU and OW. Younger students are currently learning these things in school while some older students may need support in these areas, and that is what this course is...
Students will learn the difference between words with OU and OW. Students will learn the spelling rules that follow the two. Students will learn to identify and spell words that follow the OU and OW rules.
Students will need access to an account of Google Slides. Students may also use a notebook or whiteboard to keep track of learning or for note keeping if they would like.
Students will receive an exit ticket at the end of the lesson where they get to create an OU and OW word and place it into its corresponding category on a Google Slide. This shows understanding of identification and spelling rules.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Google Slides will be used for students to create text boxes with words using OU and OW. They will then use these text boxes to place their word in the correct OU or OW category. A Google account will be required for students to have access to the slide.
We will be using Google Slides at the end of the lesson.
