3 in-class hoursClass Experience
Included in this class will be activities based on the 5 short vowels (A, E, I, O, U) - what the sounds are, and what they look like in words. Students will get practice identifying words with short vowel sounds as well as writing short words with these vowel sounds. We will also practice using them in short sentences. A book relating to the topic will be read during each class time. A worksheet will be provided for parents to download for extra practice. Students should be able to recognize these letters before class. After class, I would expect parents to discuss short vowels they encounter when reading aloud to their child or in every day life (while in a store, signs, etc). The more a child practices a skill, the better he/she will remember it.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to identify the sounds of the 5 short vowels and read words containing these vowel sounds.
