Beginner Level
Students will be presented with a fraction, and shown how to determine what type of fraction it is and if it is simplified or not. If the fraction is not simplified, students will learn the steps on how to simplify the fraction. Students will use multiplication, division, and subtraction to simplify proper, improper, and mixed fractions. Students will learn and use concepts such as greatest common factor and common multiples. The teacher and students will interact through discussion, questions, and problem-solving. Students should know math facts zero to ten, know how to multiply and divide, and be familiar with fractions.
Learning Goals
The students will learn how to identify various fractions and learn key tips to tell if they are simplified or not.The students will learn how to simplify proper fractions.
