Students taking this course will gain an understanding of recursion and self similarity by exploring both hand drawn and computer drawn fractals. Students will need a basic understanding of the Pre-Algebra concepts of substitution and simplification to be successful in this class. Each week, students will prepare for the live class by completing a short tutorial that explains important concepts and walks students through some basic examples. During the live class, I will answer questions related to the tutorial and then we will take a deeper dive into the concepts. After class, students will complete a short assessment to evaluate their learning to that point. Topics to be covered: - Week 1: What is a Fractal? - Week 2: How Do I Predict New Values? - Week 3: How Do I Create My Own Fractal? - Week 4: How Does a Computer Draw a Fractal?

Teacher expertise and credentials
To me, mathematics is beautiful. I have a passion for sharing that beauty with the world. Too often, Math classes get bogged down in the pieces of the puzzle and do not step back to enjoy the entire puzzle. My purpose in providing this class is to step back and admire how beautiful math can be.
