Fun With Fitness Club: Special Education Inclusion 8-12 (Ongoing)

In this ongoing course, students will learn upper-body, lower-body and whole body fitness exercises that meet the needs of all students with disabilities.
Class experience
In this ongoing, students will jump into the fun world of fitness! ALL students are included in this fitness class where we will explore at home workouts that can be done with little to no equipment. All exercises will be modeled and demonstrated with modified and challenge approaches to ensure that all ability levels are being accounted for. Students will improve their fitness abilities while becoming confident and active exercising at their ability level while being accommodated and challenged when appropriate.
I am currently a high school special education teacher and have been in the field for 10 years. I have worked with students at every ability level and can accommodate for all learners. I have a bachelors degree as a learning and behavior specialist and also coach our high school special olympics teams. I hold two master's degrees, one as a reading specialist and one in educational administration. I coached special olympics basketball, soccer and track and field. I work out and lift weights daily and have many years of experience in the fitness field.
Open space (living room, backyard, etc) Close toed gym shoes Water bottle Light weights (or even cans if light weights are not available)--body weight can be used if weights are not appropriate for the learner
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Due to physical activity, learners will be needing an open workout space, proper footwear, a water bottle, and adequate stretching beforehand. Please also be aware that injuries that can occur if not properly supervised. It is requested that learners have parental supervision for the duration of the class.
