This is a fun intro class to the cool process of needle felting also known as wool painting. This is a dry felting process using a barbed needle and wool roving to create a felted Sloth. Suggested age is 10 and up due to the sharp barbed needle, dexterity and patience required. The dry felting process of needle felting is achieved by continuously poking and stabbing the pure wool roving which causes the fibers to interlock and felt. Students first create a skeleton using the pipe cleaner...
I love the feel and look of needle felted items/art and have been doing it for about 4 years. I have offered classes and workshops at various local county Fine Arts facilities and excited to share my love of this art form by offering classes online.
Items to Purchase: Barbed needles (at least 2 in case of breakage) .5 oz packages of wool roving in light brown or light grey or light green, white and black - Cost less than $2 per color or you could buy a variety pack 1 black pipe cleaner Scissors Ruler Small foam block - Cost is about $2 I get my supplies at Hobby Lobby locally. Some Michael's have a few items. My favorite brand of roving is Artiste (it is not too smooth and easier to felt) Another option is to order from Amazon, Ebay etc.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
