Beginner Level
In this class, you'll learn about emotions, friendship, and self-expression! We'll have a fun discussion, play games, and talk about how we feel in different situations. We will discuss emotions, friendship, and practice social skills. We'll explore different feelings like happiness, sadness, and anger, and talk about what makes us feel those ways. Through fun activities like Show and Tell, you'll learn how to make friends and talk about things that are important to you. You'll practice introducing yourself and interacting with others in a kind, confident way. The class is broken up into different activities that include: Discussion: We will discuss scenarios of fictional characters in different situations that may bring about a range of emotions and describe the reaction and the better reaction. Games: We’ll play interactive games to learn about emotions and practice acting them out. Show and Tell: You’ll get a chance to introduce yourself and talk about your favorite toy or object. Small Group Time: You’ll practice introducing yourself to new friends and chatting in smaller groups. Sing Along: We’ll end with a happy song to celebrate the new friends we made! I’ll use fun discussion, pictures, and interactive games to make learning about emotions and friendship enjoyable. You'll get to play, act, and share with your classmates, and I’ll guide you every step of the way! I’m friendly, encouraging, inclusive of all students, and always ready to have fun! I like to make sure everyone feels comfortable and confident, and I’m here to help you learn while having a great time. You’ll interact with me a lot! I’ll ask you questions during the discussion, play games with you, and help you practice talking and sharing with the group. Everyone will have a chance to speak and join in—your voice matters!

As a social worker, I have taught children how to demonstrate appropriate behaviors in both the home and community. In my role as a long-term substitute teacher and teacher's aide for young children, I supported those who struggled with communication and helped them understand and express their emotions.
