This class is designed to help little learners prepare for future writing. We meet once a week and will have 4 different classes that we will cycle through. Week 1: Music and movement: Get those bodies moving and those fingers wiggling. Did you know finger play songs and counting can help children develop fine motor muscles for future writing? We will do some counting, dancing, singing and have a whole lot of fun! Week 2: Body awareness: We will learn about parts of our face, parts of our...
Little learners will gain pre-writing skills, develop fine motor muscles, and increase their vocabulary in this fun class.
Certified Teacher for Birth - grade 2 for both general education and Students with disabilities. I also have a background in music and arts, as well as literature.
Week 1: You can bring a shaker egg or maraca. Some rice or beans in a container to shake also work (just make sure it is a container your child can not open and monitor them. You can also bring a toy drum or an upside down plastic bowl. A play scarf, or washcloth can also be used to wave around during our dances. Have your child sit in a chair with 2-3 feet of space around them so the can move their arms and legs without bumping into anything. Week 2: A paper and some crayons to practice drawing ourselves at the end of class. See how your child's drawings improve each month. Week 3: 1-2 containers of playdough, out and ready to use. A hard surface to lean on. I like to use a small dry erase board for my playdough so I can hold it up so show off what I've made. Children are welcome to do the same but it is optional. Week 4: A stack of paper (at least 10 pieces) and crayons. Your child may also use a dry erase board if they like.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please remain in the room at all times to monitor your child's safety during each lesson. I will send a message before each class to remind you what materials you will need for the week.
