Fun Water Science - Building an Ice Skating Rink - Elementary and Junior Level
In this one-time class, learners will learn about the chemistry of water as well as think about how to build a backyard skating rink. Learners are encouraged to think of improvements to the rink and troubleshoot issues that occurred.

In this class, we'll have some fun looking at the trials and errors of building a backyard ice skating rink. This teacher has built a rink for two winters in a row now and has learned a few fun things about water. Science observations will be discussed in this class. Learners will be encouraged to think about design improvements to a backyard rink. We will also think about the chemistry of water. What is water made of? This class will cover some basic chemistry about water, including that it expands when it freezes and that it is polar. The importance of water on planet earth and its unique properties will be covered in this course.
