What is water made of? This class will cover some basic chemistry about water, including that it expands when it freezes and that it is polar. Even the electrons will be thought about to realize why water consists of 2 oxygen atoms and one hydrogen atom. After a brief discussion on water, we'll have some fun looking at the trials and errors of building a backyard ice skating rink. This teacher has built a rink for two winters in a row now and has learned a few fun things about water. Science observations will be discussed in this class. Learners will be encouraged to think about design improvements to a backyard rink.
