Class Experience

Learners will learn a variety of make-up techniques that will assist them in creating their own theatrical make-up designs for future productions.
Learners will be working individually on their own make-up designs. Homework assignments are optional, but encouraged and include exploration of their own make-up designs on paper and/or on actual faces.
A face template will be provided to learners electronically. They will want to have the ability to print it several times so that they can draw on it Household items needed: colored pencils, chocolate sauce, red food coloring, blue food coloring, blue liquid dish soap, a bowl and spoon, a washcloth that you don't mind getting messy, a tablecloth that you don't mind getting messy ~$10 Specialty items needed a student theatrical make-up kit (Mehron or Ben Nye recommended ~$20-25 a bruise make-up kit (Mehron or Ben Nye recommended ~$15 extra make-up sponges (from a drugstore or similar) ~$5 tear free shampoo (Suave recommended from a drugstore or similar) ~$5 Total supply cost: Approx. $60
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learners will receive feedback on their designs on an ongoing basis.
Parents will receive final, narrative comments at the end of the session.
No letter grades will be assigned.
4 hours per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Learners will be creating make-up designs that involve blood, bruises, cuts, and horror characters (vampires, zombies, etc.). These designs should not be overly graphic or scary, but learners who are very sensitive might prefer warning about the lesson topic.

Some learners may be extra sensitive to make-up or other ingredients that we will be using on skin. I HIGHLY recommend doing a small skin test prior to the beginning of class.
