Theatre games are not only a great way to warm up in preparation for acting, but they are a great way to break out of one's shell and become more comfortable and expressive. Welcome to my new, on-going Theatre Games class FOR KIDS! My name is Danielle Brown and I have been teaching Drama in high school for 15 years and have worked in teen theatre as a Director, Choreographer and Teacher for many more. I also hold a BA in Theatre and have been performing since I was bitten by the bug at age 14! My students absolutely love theatre games and request to do them often. In this class, we will play a variety of ice-breakers and theatre games to promote self-expression, confidence and creativity. Each class will begin with an activity that will serve as an introduction to one another. Then we will do warm up exercises and games to get the juices flowing. Finally, we will engage in more complex games that will support the development of the students in the class. Some of the games we will play are: 1. One Word Story 2. Three Memories 3. What are you Doing? 4. Taxi Cab 5. Charades 6. Crossing the Floor 7. Family Portrait 8. Super Hero Obstacle Course and many more! With these on-going classes, we will have the luxury to take more time with the games than I am able to give in the classroom. There will be a lot of interaction with me and with the students. I don't just direct the class - I participate as well! All in all, we will have a lot of fun and gain some mastery along the way!
Learning Goals
The students will be able to:
1. Warm Up their bodies.
2. Express themselves in a safe environment.
3. Gain skills to use in their acting.
4. Have fun while working with and supporting the other members of the class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
California Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
Hello! My name is Danielle Brown and I have been teaching dance and drama for 41 years!
I have taught in day care centers, dance studios, brick and mortar schools and theatres. Currently, I teach drama and dance in high school and have been for 19 years. For my school I not only teach, but I direct our Spring musicals and choreograph for our Liturgical movers.
I have also worked as a director, choreographer and teacher for teen theatre companies and workshops in Southern California. I hold a BA in Theatre and have studied dance throughout studios in Los Angeles. I am also a performer and have performed in plays and musicals both in school and regionally.
I love teaching in the arts as I was "bitten by the bug" at a young age, enjoying learning and performing since the age of 14. I want to share this passion with your children and provide them with experiences they will remember for a lifetime!
One of my favorite experiences was training in Summer at the Teenage Drama Workshop at California State University, Northridge. It was there I learned my craft and also created wonderful memories! I hope you will create wonderful memories, too!
I teach story time classes that include pre-ballet for younger ones, as well as, more advanced acting training for youth and teens. These classes include: improvisation and theatre games. I also teach classes in choreography for teens. Additionally, I teach arts and crafts classes!
Come join me and have FUN creating ART!!!!!
