Use it or Lose it! βΊ This class will focus on improving conversational fluency, reinforcing listening skills, reading comprehension and vocabulary building. Each week, students will meet with me and other friends that want to keep improving their bilingual skills. This class is perfect for Dual Language Learners / Immersion Students that are able to communicate in Spanish fluently. Every week, we read different presentations that I prepare for the class. We will cover a different country each week and discuss about its geography, traditions, food, fun facts and activities, etc. I will encourage students to share their knowledge about the week's country and / or any similarities or differences they find with the students' country. I will also help students with unknown words or concepts and this reinforces the acquisition of new vocabulary while we fall naturally into the rhythm of the Spanish language. Each week we will visit the following countries: Week 1: Vamos a Francia! Week 2 : Vamos a China! Week 3 : Vamos a PerΓΊ! Week 4 : Vamos a Puerto Rico! Week 5 : Vamos a EspaΓ±a! Week 6 : Vamos a la India! Week 7: Vamos a Brasil! Week 8: Vamos a la RepΓΊblica Dominicana! Week 9 : Vamos a Madagascar! Week 10: Vamos a Italia! Week 11: Vamos a Rusia! Week 12: Vamos a Colombia! Week 13: Vamos a Inglaterra! Week 14: Vamos a Costa Rica! Week 15: Vamos a Marruecos! Week 16: Vamos a Bolivia! Week 17: Vamos a Irlanda! Week 18: Vamos a JapΓ³n! Week 19: Vamos a Islandia! I hold a B.S. in HR Management and I'm a Certified Interpreter/Translator for the Winchester Public Schools and local hospital. In addition, I'm TEFL certified and I have been a Spanish Teacher since 2004. My first experience as a teacher was in a regular classroom setting but since 2016, I have become a Virtual Spanish Instructor. My teaching philosophy is learning while having FUN and presenting the material in small pieces. I keep my classes small (1-8 students max.) and we do a lot repetition. My goal is for students to internalize the vocabulary so they can use it in their daily routines.
In addition, as an experienced Spanish Teacher, I follow the TPRS Method (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling). TPRS lessons are a mixture of reading, storytelling, activities, games and repetition. This methodology motivates and prepares my students to trust themselves speaking, reading and understanding a foreign language. I use a lot of visual aids during the class so everyone can follow the sessions.
