Description

Class Experience

A total of 80 sight and high frequency words will be taught and reinforced in this ongoing class. In this course we presume that each child has already learned the ABC song and the associated sounds to each letter. This class covers sight words; so although knowing the alphabet is useful to help recognize letters, we all know that many words clearly cannot be taught using the "sound it out" method. Ultimately, learning will be achieved by introducing and discussing the concepts to be taught...

The goal in this class is not only to introduce these high frequency words and sight words to the children, but to provide for them different ways to review and practice the words.

The instructor will encourage the use of the Quizlet study app and sometimes to provide easy worksheets for use after class or on the weekend..

Use of Quizlet

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

The instructor will be informally assessing through participation as we go and with periodic message communication with the parents of each student.

1 hour 40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
