Fun Scratch Junior Ongoing Social Class

In this ongoing class, each week new students will learn the basics of coding using Scratch Junior. We will cover how to open the app and what the buttons mean ( colour coordinated). Scratch jr. allows children that are unable to read to create coding algorithms using the coloured blocks. Returning students will have to opportunity to work on projects they have created and they will take it in turns to share their creations, debugged any problems they have, share what they have found difficult and share new ideas with their peers. 

We will continue to choose a sprite and choose how we want it to move, next we will work through the different buttons to see what they do and how our script effects the sprite. Then the students will have the opportunity to create a small, scene, story or game using the techniques they have learned. Finally we will share and discuss and obstacles we found. 

All work will be learner initiated each week and will be based on their prior knowledge and what they want to gain from the class. Learners will be given time to work on their projects as well as share, learn new information and overcome challenges.
