Fun Reading and Creative Writing
In this online course, students will be taught how to use English Language Arts skills (vocabulary, reading strategies, text structures, elements of fiction, figurative language, among other things, to develop creative stories with realistic characters, superhero characters, poetry, etc.

First, students will learn the elements of proficient readers: visualizing, activating schema, questioning, inferring, determining importance, monitoring for meaning and synthesizing. Second, students will learn the major parts of fiction: plot, point of view, setting, style, and theme. Students will also implement the writing process in their own writings (planning, drafting, sharing, evaluating, revising, editing and publishing). Finally, students will enhance their grammatical skills as they consistently read and write.

Students will improve their reading and writing skills by practicing habits of proficient readers and writers.

I have embedded educational videos from YouTube into the PowerPoint presentations.
Some of the videos are short appropriate music or Pixar clips. All of these resources are used to teach English Language Arts skills. The students find them engaging and so do I.
