Homework
After each session, we will send the assignments for the week to the parent's email via the Outschool Messaging system. This will usually include songs and exercises to practice, along with some specific notes on what to focus on. Learners will progress at different paces based on how often they practice. We typically recommend practicing 3-4 times per week, for 10 minutes a day for kids 8 and under, and 20 minutes a day for kids 9+. Older teens may be willing to invest even more time, but consistency is better than one long practice session once a week!Class Experience
Beginner - Advanced Level
In these one-on-one classes, intended to be scheduled on a weekly or biweekly basis, I will teach you or your learner how to play the drums. This class is perfect for the beginner to advanced student, with each class catered to the students' own level. Whether you are playing drum set, in the school band, or want to learn hand drums, I can help you achieve your musical goals. We believe learning should be fun, so lessons will consist of a mix of playing songs, drum exercises, and educational games. For beginning and intermediate students, we work through the Foundations of Drumming curriculum. Once you feel confident, we can supplement our lesson book with other songs of your choice, including in rock, jazz, or other styles of music. Maybe you can even compose your own piece! Topics we cover include: Rhythm and Tempo Drum Notation and Reading Technique and Form Musical Expressions and Artistry Hand Drumming Percussion and Mallets These are private, individualized 1:1 drum lessons. Let’s have fun and learn together!
Learning Goals

Mr. Jesse: My name is Jesse Shultzaberger and I am a professional drummer, music instructor and author of the drum method book "Foundations of Drumming".
I have taught all ages for over twenty year and teach all styles of drums from drum set to hand drumming and marching/school band percussion. My goal is for students to discover the joy of music.
I grew up in a musical family and come from a long lineage of excellent teachers. I believe a love of music can enrich anyone’s life and anyone can learn to be musical.
In addition to teaching music I am also a performer and recording artist. I have played thousands of concerts and have recorded on over 30 albums. Let's learn music together!
