Class Experience

Believe it or not, phonics can be fun! It's also extremely important to recognize correct letter sounds to build a strong foundation for future reading skills! This one-time class provides a focus on the short vowel sounds: A, E, I, O, and U. This class is intended to offer additional support in reading and blending letter sounds. Students should have been previously exposed to the ABCs.

Students will demonstrate knowledge of the short vowel sounds for A, E, I, O, and U.

BSEd with a concentration in English - 7+ years experience teaching within the classroom and online
*Specifically, I've spent the last 2.5+ years virtually teaching phonics, grammar, reading, and writing to both American and ESL students ranging from 3 years to teenagers. I'm experienced using ZOOM to work with learners one-on-one and in small groups.

We will be drawing pictures for each letter. Please come to class prepared with paper and coloring supplies (markers, crayons, colored pencils, etc).

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Informal "brain check" at the end of class

30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
