We discuss the famous quote by Descartes: "I think therefore I am". Using fun thought experiments to assess why it's so important for Epistemology & Philosophy of Mind. Maybe he wasn't so clever; kids really enjoy proving him wrong with me.

To think and learn without realising it, because you are having fun! Students will be aware of one of the key discussions in the field of Scepticism (Doubting Things) and Epistemology (the Study of Knowledge) and be able to analyse the famous quote from Descartes "I think therefore I am". They will get a great beginners insight into logical rational arguments which is the bedrock of Western Philosophy. We will also touch on aspect of Philosophy of Mind and Perception and how reliable our contact with the external world is, which is a key aspect of Epistemology (one of the main Philosophical topics).
I have a PhD in Philosophy and have taught this class many times - it's one of my favourites and all my students have really enjoyed it too.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
