Class Experience

Knitted cord (also known as I-cord or French cord) is incredibly easy to make and offers loads of possibilities for creative projects, such as jewelry, ties, bag handles, and embellishments. In this 30-minute course, I’ll show you how to knit a strand of cord and then shape it into a Celtic knot necklace. I’ll also share other project ideas using knitted cord that you can try on your own (including the multi-cord necklace pictured above). This class is open to all knitter levels, from beginners to those who have already learned the basics.

Learning Goals

Students will learn how to create a Celtic knot necklace and other fun and fashionable items from knitted cord.

Supply List
You will need a skein of yarn and a pair of knitting needles. You are free to use ANY medium-weight (not bulky) yarn you'd like for this project. Some standard brands that would work and can be found at most retail stores include Red Heart, Caron, and Sugar 'n' Cream. You can also use any size knitting needles; however, cord looks best with a "tight" stitch so I recommend going with a needle size no larger than size 8 (I will be using size 4).

Greetings! My name is Diane. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but I moved after graduating college and I now live with my kitty cat in Rhode Island, America’s smallest state. For the past 23 years I have worked as a graphic designer -- being creative is literally my profession! I have a BS in business administration from Robert Morris College. I also have a certificate to teach English as a second language (CELTA), and for the past five years I have been teaching English for my local library’s ESL outreach program. I also teach English online; I taught Chinese students for Web International back in 2018 and now I teach online independently.

I’m looking forward to sharing my passion for knitting -- I’ve been knitting since I was ten! I’m looking forward to sharing some fun and fashionable knitting projects, like smartphone cases, handbags, even jewelry -- everyday items you can actually use which are entirely unique to you. I also hope to offer some design classes as well.

I look forward to meeting you all soon! =^..^=
