Casual informal assessment. If the parent desires something written, that can be done.Class Experience
I welcome learners of all identities and backgrounds into my classes. I will ask that you label 11 keys on your piano keyboard, based on the instructions and diagram that will be posted in the classroom. *Because the students do not know the names of the piano keys yet, I will post a diagram and I instructions for labelling your keyboard, in the classroom. Students that have their keys labelled do better learning the songs and they learn the note names of the keys faster. This is a novice level course, and no prior experience is necessary. We will start with finding middle C on the piano, and how to set up home Position. We will go over how the fingers are numbered on each hand. The students will learn a couple of simple songs during the first class, so that they will be able to play something right away. This class is a great way to give the student some experience playing the piano , while boosting their confidence that they can learn to play. I will provide simple song sheets for the students to practice. They are written in an easy-to-follow style, and not in standard music notation. I will demonstrate the songs by showing my hand on my piano, with my second device. * You will need your zoom screen set to 'gallery view' so that the student can see my piano. We will do a little bit of fun, creative , improvising. Each student will have an opportunity to improvise on an easy scale , and express their creativity and unique style. My teaching style is casual and I focus on self esteem and on building self confidence. I am keeping the class size very small, so that each student has a chance to get some individual attention. Studies have proven that students who study an instrument often have improvements in their math, and language performance.
Learning Goals
