Description
Class Experience
Students will learn the proper way to hold their hands and wrists , and how to play on the keys. Students will learn a couple of simple , beginner scales and chords. Students will experience playing along with another player, which will be myself or another student. One goal is to boost the confidence of the student , and ease any nervousness or concent about playing music. Each student will develop a level of competence at a few key piano skills. The student will experience what it is like to play piano and have a better idea if it is something they may want to pursue. Piano is complementary to any other instrument the student may already be learning, or it is a perfect starting instrument.
I have 20+ years experience, as a music teacher. I have taught piano, electric keyboard, guitar, and general music classes, in both the classroom and private settings. I was head of the music department at a private high school in Maryland. I taught private piano and guitar lessons at a guitar shop, for 5 years, in addition to my own private students in my studio. I have a bachelor's degree in music education, from Towson University, plus graduate studies in music education.
I will give the student things to practice between lessons. I will post any videos or print outs in the Outschool classroom.
