Class Experience

In addition to being a high school English teacher for 17 years and teaching creative writing for over ten, I've been free writing since I could put a pencil to paper. The practice of creative, focused free writing is where I have been able to cull most of my writing ideas and take them from their infancy to something bigger. This practice is one that I have found helps aspiring writers overcome writer's block. And even if you are not an aspiring creative writer, focused free writing may be beneficial to anyone who needs to write anything. Let me guide you in this practice so that you can have a tool in your toolbox the next time you are looking at a blank page and don't know what to start writing about.
Learners will receive a list of focused free writing prompts at the end of the course. Learners need to bring a favorite writing utensil and notebook/paper to class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
