Fun Flute Lessons for Curious Kids!

I will provide PDF exercises and songs for the lessons. We’ll share audio recordings and work on improving skills like tuning and collaborative playing through duets, and I’ll edit both video and audio as needed.

Homework
1-2 hours per week. I expect each student to practice flute at home. Depending on the child’s age, they can practice 15-20 minutes (5 days a week). For older students, practice should be around 30-45 minutes on practice days.

Class Experience

Beginner - Advanced Level
This class can be taught in either English or Spanish, depending on the student's preference.

I’m passionate about discovering new pedagogies and methods, and I strive to stay up to date with new publications and materials, always eager to implement whatever is best for each flute student who joins my studio. One unique aspect I can offer, thanks to my European background, is teaching solfège as it’s done in Spain, which is much more effective for improving intonation. I also have my own methodology for learning new instrumental pieces, such as the "4 Steps Technique."

A typical sample class could look like this:

-	We start the session with a moment of reflection on how the student is feeling and how their personal practice at home went (we use a practice calendar to help build an individual study habit).
-	We review the goals and achievements from the previous session, as well as what we aimed to work on or improve (always using positive reinforcement: we highlight one achievement first, followed by an improvement goal)
-	A significant portion of each session is dedicated to understanding the technical fundamentals of flute playing: breathing, healthy posture, sound production, tuning, rhythmic accuracy, fingering, and more—always focused on performance. I create specific exercises tailored to the repertoire the student is working on
-	Ideally, lessons are 30-45 minutes weekly, and personal practice between sessions is essential for progress
-	The final part of the session, after working on the repertoire and "song of the day," closes with a favorite melody to leave us excited for the next class.

I will provide PDF exercises and songs for the lessons. We’ll share audio recordings and work on improving skills like tuning and collaborative playing through duets, and I’ll edit both video and audio as needed. However, it’s important that students have their own study book to practice at home. This can be done in several ways:
-	Use an iPad/tablet to read from
-	Print out the exercises we’re studying or the entire book
-	Purchase the book

I provide personalized practice calendars for students to log their flute sessions and track the pieces they've worked on. This helps ensure focused progress and development as joyful, confident flutists.
Learning Goals
In these weekly flute lessons, my goal is to create a consistent and healthy practice routine while sharing the joy of flute playing. I strive to make music a delightful part of my students' lives, helping them grow as happy and confident individuals.
