Let's keep writing this summer. Writing should be fun. Let me show you how games and activities make writing a piece of cake. Each week, a literary element or device will be taught. We will have fun playing games and using the skills in small bits of writing. We will not write complete stories in this class yet campers will be encouraged to keep on writing. This club focuses on writing with figurative language yet it is more. Campers will be engaged and interact with their peers. Don't be surprised if you hearing laughter. This club is very fun. :) Campers will interact with peers, play games, and complete fun activities. Each camper is different and I am trained at modifying activities to meet campers at their skill level. I often hear that writing is difficult or cumbersome. My goal is to inspire students to write. Writing is fun! Week 1: Alliteration and onomatopoeia Week 2: Personification Week 3: Oxymorons and Cliches Week 4: Hyperboles and understatements Week 5: Imagery Week 6: Similes and metaphors Research indicates that people learn through playing. I plan on creating a camp that seems like all play yet learning is taking place at the same time. A natural side effect includes increased scores on "big" tests. These terms are found on the ACT, SAT, and district and state tests.
