In this one time class, students will draw and paint a cute snail while learning basic watercolor techniques.
Class experience
In this lesson, students will be able to create a cute snail with watercolor paint. I will be discussing the elements of art as we paint and teach basic watercolor techniques, hints, and tricks. I will first do a directed drawing of the snail while students follow along and then we will be using a crayon resist technique to color our background and then use a wet on wet water color technique over parts of the drawing. Students will improve their understanding of the crayon resist and wet on wet watercolor painting technique. They will also improve their understanding of the elements of art, specifically texture, value, and color.
Students will need watercolor paper (or some type of thick paper), watercolor paint, crayons, a paintbrush, pencil, eraser, sharpie, and a water dish.
