Class Experience
This class will focus upon providing your child with an overview of key topics in the 2nd-6th grade math curriculum. A purposeful mix of assessment, math games, and instructional strategies will be provided to insure that the student has fun and is engaged. Lessons may focus upon such topics as addition, subtraction, place value, multiplication, division, fractions, measurement or geometry aligned with the child's needs. A student will learn specific math skills and have individual math assessment of his/her progress at the current grade level. To insure the student has fun and feels relaxed, a balance of math games, assessments and instructional lessons will be part of any session.
I have a Master's Degree in Elementary Education. I have taught intervention classes for grades K-5 and worked as a classroom teacher for all subjects in grades 4 and 5 for over 10 years. I am honored to have received the award for 5th Grade Teacher of the Year by my local Boys and Girls Club.
There will be no additional work.
Whiteboard, dry erase marker and eraser (an old sock works great!), pens and paper.
A learner will be informally assessed on an ongoing basis to insure he/she is making progress on specific math skill.
55 minutes per class, and maybe some time outside of class.
