Learning Piano is Fun. This is an easy and fun music class. We will learn how to play some children songs, and play them using piano/electric keyboards. I will also cover the "math magic" from the piano. Learners will learn the basic piano theory, like notes and the note values. This class is taught in English, but I will cover some Chinese vocabularies in the class. We will sing the songs together in Chinese and/or English and learn how to sing "Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La, Ti, do". Learners do not need any music background. This is an intro piano class combining a little math and Chinese. Our main goal is to learn and have fun together. A piano or keyboard is needed. However, if learners don't have piano/electric keyboards, they may still join the class for the first class. Note: Please email me in advance about the fact you don't have a keyboard/piano. Sample Topics: Week I a: introduction of white keys and black keys on the piano; counting and adding the total numbers of keys on learners' keyboards, learning some Chinese vocabularies, the music alphabet, CDE, and starting to sing our song #1 (新年好),part 1, practicing right hand on piano Week I b: continuing to learn the music alphabet, FGAB, and introducing the flats and sharps, playing games for music reading, continuing to sing and practicing our song #1, part 2; learners will take turns to perform what they have learned so far. Week II a : introducing note values, quarter, half, dotted half and whole notes; I will use math calculation to break down the "note values", learning some new Chinee vocabularies, introducing song #2, part 1, singing together and continuing to practice right hand on piano Week II b : continuing to study note values, playing matching games, learning some Chinese vocabularies, singing song #2, part 2, practicing right hand on piano; learners take turn to sing and/or play solo. Week III a : beginning to practice using left hand, reviewing CDEFGAB, playing song#1, using left hand for the same notes Week III b :continuing to practice using left hand, playing song #2, singing and playing together, learning Chinese vocabularies, playing math games for matching various music notes Week IV: practicing using both hands together for song #1 and song #2, starting to learn song #3 using right hand Week V : continuing to practice for both hands on song #3, singing and playing together, learning Chinese vocabularies, reviewing math calculation

Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from University of Washington
Hello Outschool learners, learning does not have to be hard, and you don’t have to learn one thing at a time. In my class, you can learn two things all together in an easy and efficient way, Chinese (Mandarin) and math altogether. We can kill two birds with one stone! I am bilingual in English and Chinese.
I have lived and studied in China for more than 18 years. After that I moved to US, and I graduated from University of Washington in 2006 with a Bachelor degree in Business Administration. Even though my major was in Accounting and Finance, I loved to teach whenever I had my spare time. When I was at college, I was a math tutor, and I also worked as a lab assistant in the UW language learning center for helping foreign students to learn English and Chinese.
I have been teaching on Outschool for over two years. I really enjoy teaching in this platform. I have tutoring experience with young learners, and I can also teach teenagers and pre-college students for math. After I graduated, I worked as a financial accountant in a non-for-profit organization for 5 years, and another three years with a private company. I am really good at math and Chinese. Do you want to join me? I love to teach. Let us have some fun and learn together. I am looking forward to seeing you in my classes soon!
