In this 4-week FLEX class, learners will learn all conversational Spanish through weekly themed vocabulary, songs and fun worksheets. In these flex courses, there will be no live classes and you will be taking the classes at your own pace. We will use the Outschool classroom for communication weekly. Should any questions or concerns arise, don't hesitate to reach out via email throughout our course. Recorded classes will consist of brief and fun slides, songs and routine practice. I will translate these beginner questions in English, so beginners can be sure to understand instruction. I will include comprehension and recall questions to encourage comprehension. Each class will include specifics a themed topic. See vocabulary schedule below. All classes will include: Introductions (¿Cómo estás?) Calendar activities (¿Que día es hoy?) Beginning numbers (¿Cuántos años tienes?) Part 1 Weekly topics: Week 1: Shapes (formas) Week 2: Body Parts (el cuerpo) Week 3: Pets (mascotas) Week 4: Fruits and Vegetables (frutas y vegetales) Teacher will be post weekly recording and materials by Monday 4PM PST. After viewing the weekly course content, learners will have the option to post a picture or video of their color-in worksheet for the week. OPTIONAL interaction activities include: Learners will have the option to introduce themselves via the Outschool classroom with picture or video sharing their name AND introducing the class to their PELUCHE (plushie/stuffie)! We can practice complete sentences in español stating: (Mi peluche en un axolotl y se llama, Yoli. My plushie is an axolotl and her name is Yoli.) Learners can also post and share completed course activities/worksheets including Loteria cards. Learners will will have the option to play a weekly scavenger hunt game based on the weekly topic and post a picture in the classroom to engage interactively with peers. For example: they can show a picture or video of themselves holding a shape and saying the Spanish word for week one, a picture of a mano (hand) for week two, introducing their mascota (pet) for week three and their favorite fruta or vegetal (fruit or vegetable) for week four. Posting pictures or video of these activities will create a fun collaborative and community based classroom, but is totally optional :)
Learning Goals
Learners will improve their beginner knowledge of introductory Spanish vocabulary through self-paced lessons.

I am an experienced educator who has taught at nearly every level of instruction from pre-k to college level. My very first job out of high school was as a bilingual instructional aide for the Head Start program in my city. I currently teach undergraduate students who are preparing to become K-12 teachers.
I am a student-centered educator who listens and aims to allow students to feel heard and seen in the classroom. I want all of my students to feel empowered and engaged in every lesson. I believe that students bring important and valuable contributions to the classroom. I aim to empower learner voices in a way that they become confident critical thinkers who can pose questions and engage with their peers in a collaborative learning process.
