In this lesson, students will be able to create a watercolor resist birch tree painting. I will be discussing the elements of art as we draw and paint and I will teach basic watercolor techniques, hints, and tricks. I will first do a directed drawing of the birch tree while students follow along and then we will be painting our background. There is so much flexibility with this lesson and learners can get as creative as they would like! Each student learns at their own pace and I do...
Students will improve their understanding of drawing and the watercolor painting technique. They will also improve their understanding of the elements of art, specifically line, texture, value, and color.
Students will need watercolor paper (or some type of thick paper), watercolor paint, a paintbrush, pencil, eraser, a crayon or sharpie, salt, and a water dish.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
