In this one-time, fun and easy class young artists will make their own abstract art piece with masking tape and markers or crayons. They will learn about masking, positive and negative space, and warm and cool colors, "color temperature". We will start with a heavier piece of paper (sketch book, marker paper) or even a piece of white cardboard. Then we will put masking tape on the paper to make the shapes. After that, we will use warm and cool markers or crayons to add color. When...
Students will learn to follow directions, masking with tape, what warm and cool colors are, what negative and positive space is, and a new way of art making that they could easily do on their own.
I have a Bachelor in Fine Arts and have taught art lessons to children of all ages!
Students will need: Heavy paper or white cardboard. Sketchbook and marker paper would be ideal. Masking tape, any color, any width. Markers or crayons, with red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
