Full-Year Nature Preschool + Kindergarten Social/Circle Time |Charlotte Mason||2x Weekly|

In this nature focused class, young learners will explore foundational concepts: nature studies, math skills, letter sounds, social studies, story time, reading comprehension, and character development! Students will explore the world through poetry, songs, nature, and “living books” (colorful and often well-known stories which correlate with the weekly curriculum). This peaceful approach to learning combines time-proven methods like memorization with child-led interaction focusing on nature, narration, natural dialogue and so on. Students will be able to interact with each other and the class material. 

What makes this class different? 

This class is nature based so it places a heavy emphasis on the natural world around young learners and helps them connect ideas within their environments. As a parent and teacher I am a strong advocate for discovery and open-ended play, particularly within nature.  I believe students learn best when they discover the natural world "hands-on". 

A unique combination of the Montessori, Charlotte Mason, and Classical methods: this triad of learning styles allows for the use of memorization and natural dialogue (Classical), rich literature + "living books" (Charlotte Mason), and a child-driven approach (Montessori).

My Goal: 

My goal when teaching young learners is to foster curiosity and a delight for knowledge. Young learners will grow in their basic knowledge about the world and how to discover the beauty in every little thing. Let their souls be wild and their feet be free. 

This Course: 

This course is comprised of weekly learning units. Students will learn through repetition, "rowing books" ("living books" read repeatedly to create familiarity and comprehension), and poetry. Students may come and go freely within the learning semester. EACH week will include free handouts/printouts for fun, after-school learning (optional). 

 Each class typically includes: 

-Inclusive Warm-Up Activity 
-Calendar Focus 
-Word and Character Statement (i.e. I am patient) 
-Letter Study (i.e. A/a) 
-Math Study (i.e. number recognition, counting, opposites, etc.) 
-Science Study (i.e. birds, fish, etc.) 
-Language Arts Study (poems + well known songs) 
-Famous artwork recognition 
-“Living” Story Time- (i.e. The Snowy Day by Ezra Keats)
-Wrap-up Activity 
-After-School Printable
