At the end of the course, students are recommend to take the mock AP Exam again to assess growth and improvement. Intermediate - Advanced Level
This course is recommended for students currently enrolled in AP Calculus AB who plan to take the AP Exam in May 2024. Prepare for the AP Calculus Exam with confidence and precision in our 8-week AP Calculus Exam Review. Designed for students seeking to excel in this challenging subject, our small group format ensures personalized attention and comprehensive coverage of the eight essential units of calculus. By utilizing a mix of short instruction and AP style questions, students will learn to adapt the content they know to maximize success on the exam. We will meet through the Outschool online platform and use a collaborative whiteboard to solve problems. I will use a warmup to assess prior knowledge and design the hour-long review session to build areas of understanding that need development within the content focus of the week. Students will have a timed Exam Question practice assignment shared at the end of each week to practice Multiple Choice and Free Response AP level questions. Step-by-step video explanations for each assignment will be provided to help students learn and review independently. The focus of each week may be adjusted depending on the needs of the students enrolled. Week 1: Limits and Continuity Week 2: Differentiation Week 3: Advanced Derivative Techniques Week 4: Applications of Derivatives - Related Rates and Straight Line Motion Week 5: Applications of Derivatives - Curve Sketching Week 6: Applications of Derivatives - Optimization and Implicit Relations Week 7: Reimann Sums Week 8: Definite Integrals and the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus Week 9: Integration Techniques - u substitution Week 10: Differential Equations and Slope Fields Week 11: Applications of Integration - Motion, Accumulation, and Area Week 12: Applications of Integrations - Volume In addition to comprehensive calculus instruction, students will also learn effective strategies for approaching multiple-choice and free-response questions, time management, and utilizing the full potential of the graphing calculator. Practice exams will be provided and given a mock AP Exam score.
