In this class, students will participate in kindergarten learning activities.

Class experience

US Grade Kindergarten
The following is an explanation of what each standard means:

Reading
Phonics Goal​:
● I know all of my upper and lowercase letters and sounds.
● I can recognize and make rhyming words.
● I can find and say one-syllable words' beginning, middle, and end sounds.
● I can match long and short vowel sounds with the accompanying letters.
● I can use letter sounds to make out new words.

Fluency Goal​:
● I can read books at my grade level.
● I can read all the words on the kindergarten sight word list.

Reading Goal​:
● I can determine what words mean by thinking about what I have read.
● I can use new words when I speak and write. Connections Goal​:
● I can tell how two stories are the same and different.
● I can tell how people, events, or ideas are connected.

Writing
Conventions Goal:
● I can capitalize the first word in a sentence and the word “I”.
● I can find and name the punctuation at the end of a sentence.
● I can use correct grammar when I speak and write.

Writing Process Goal:
● I can write for different reasons: to share and to explain.
● I can use drawings to help add details to my stories.
● I can find mistakes in my writing and fix them.

Speaking and Listening
Listening Goal:
● I listen to my teachers and follow basic directions.
● I listen to my teachers and classmates without interrupting.
Speaking Goal:
● I speak loud enough and clearly enough for others to understand me.
● I can ask and answer questions about who, what, when, where, why and how in a story.
● I can retell a story using details.
● I can identify characters, setting and main idea.
● I can figure out what words mean by thinking about what I have read.
● I can use new words when I speak and write. Connections Goal​:
● I can tell how two stories are the same and different.
● I can tell how people, events or ideas are connected.

Writing
Conventions Goal:
● I can capitalize the first word in a sentence and the word “I”.

● I can wait my turn to share my thoughts.
● I have different volumes for different situations-inside, outside, presenting, whispering
voices.

Math:
Number Sense Goal:
● I can count to 100 by ones and tens.
● I can count forward from any number between 1 and 20. Ex: start counting at 7 and
continue.
● I can count backward from 10.
● I can count, read and write my numbers from 0-20. Ex: how many jelly beans? 4, four
● I can tell which number is more, less and equal.
Base 10 Goal:
● I can make numbers from 11-19 using ones and tens.
Data and Statistics Goal:
● I can classify objects into categories.
● I can compare categories using mathematical language.
Geometry and Measurement Goal:
● I can identify two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes.
● I can compare two objects.
● I can name the days of the week.
● I can identify pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters.
Relationships and Algebraic:
● I can add and subtract with numbers from 1-10.
● I can show multiple ways to add up to 10.

Science
Universe Goal​:
● I can make observations about the seasons.
Earth’s Systems Goal:​
● I can use and share observations about weather and describe patterns over time.
● I can explain how plants and animals change their environment to fit their needs.
Human Activity Goal​:
● I can show the relationship between the needs of different plants and animals and the
places they live.
● I can talk about solutions to reduce the impact of humans on land, water, and air.
Engineering Goal:​
● I can ask questions, make observations and gather information about a simple problem.
● I can develop a drawing or model to illustrate how to solve the problem.
● I can analyze data on two ways to solve the same problem to compare strengths and
weaknesses.
Homework Offered
Homework is given in class. It will be posted in the classroom daily and reviewed the next day.

Suggestion: 
It may be easier to create a daily folder for each day with the materials/worksheets already ready for your learner. You may want also to try colored-coded folders for each day; for example: Monday-red, Tuesday-blue, Wednesday-green and etc. I try my best each week to let you know what we are working on daily. If you need any other tips, please let me know. I love to help all of our learners to be organized.
