Hello Families! Welcome to our classroom! This class is designed for kindergarteners and early first graders ready to read and solve math problems. Come and join me in this fun, interactive, and learning-filled ongoing class with a certified elementary teacher! I have spent the last four years in kindergarten, and I have had a variety of student's that had different needs and abilities. Every student is special, and I look forward to meeting your student. For reading each week, we will review the letters, work on making word families, and blending the words to connect the sounds. We will work on rhyming, reading, and putting the words into sentences. Eventually, we will read small stories with these words included in the stories. We also will work on foundational math skills and reading skills. We will look at the topic, bring schema to the class, vocabulary, questions, intergrade science and social studies in our readers, and so much more! We will also focus on introducing different math topics. I love teaching math hands on using things like blocks, clay, songs, dances, games, and eventually worksheets. I love for students to get real world opportunities and understand why we are learning the things we do. This class is ongoing so your learner can join anytime! We will practice our writing skills daily! This class will include skills your student will need for kindergarten! *** You can join this class any week! Your learner can stay enrolled in this class all year! I also give parents a weekly PDF with a variety of worksheets. *** We will learn: letter identification/recognition, letter sounds, letter writing, sight words, counting, simple addition & subtraction, shapes, & so much more! A few important things to note about my class: * Class worksheets are given for learners to print and complete during class or after. However, you can always use a whiteboard or blank paper at home if printing is not an option. Crayons, markers, scissors, dry erase boards, dry erase markers and glue are helpful to have on hand during class time. When we practice new letters, numbers or anything else, I like to use a dry erase board. It is easier to see when they show me than paper pencil. * At times, my classes highlight holidays. We may touch on celebrations such as Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. If you have any concerns let me know! * I will mute students when needed to minimize background noise. I will only do this if I cannot hear the students or if the students cannot hear each other. Please show your student how to mute and unmute. As teachers, we cannot unmute your student on our side. * We will practice raising our hands in class. This way all students have a turn to share. There is a idea of what our classes look like: * Monday/Wednesday (Reading Days)- We will start with journals, then go over word families, sing songs to incorporate learning, worksheet on word families, a story, and then a worksheet on the story. We will focus on story characteristics, skills like retelling, character/setting, and more! * Tuesday/Thursday (Math Days)- We will still do journal, our math lesson, review from last math class, introduce new topics, practice questions (I do, we do, you do method), and then they have a turn to do some on their own. * Friday (Experiment/Craft Day)- Review calendar points and theme of the week. This may include play catch up on anything we need to review, craft, or science experiment! I will include this in our packet, and I will post this in the classroom. I would love to get to know your student before class. If you would like, you can fill out the all about me form! I hope to see you soon! If you have any questions, please message me.
