Description
Class Experience
This class is taught in Spanish.
The learning goals are based on the intermediate range performance descriptors from the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL): Students use the language in conversations on familiar topics using sentences and series of sentences. They will consistently be able to initiate, maintain and end a conversation with short social interactions in everyday situations by asking and answering a variety of questions. They can communicate about self, others, and everyday life. They can also communicate by understanding and creating personal meaning. They may show emerging evidence of the ability to communicate in contexts of occasionally unfamiliar topics.
I am a native speaker and certified to teach middle and high school. I have taught Spanish for over 20 years in a variety of settings, including traditional schools and college as well as online private and group classes. I have a Master of Arts in Linguistics and a Master in Spanish Education.
I will give students activities in different formats for additional practice.
Students are encouraged to have a pen and paper to hand write notes and responses during activities.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I'll assess progress by checking understanding and production of the language in class, and I'll provide feedback on homework.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
