In this self-paced, 8-week course, students will strengthen their reading comprehension and writing skills at a 3rd & 4th-grade level. This class provides full curriculum for one semester of a 3rd or 4th-grade language arts class. R E A D I N G O V E R V I E W: Students will read one full novel throughout this class, "A Wrinkle in Time" by Madeleine L'Engle as well as a short fable in the first lesson. Reading skills taught in this class include: 📚 Determining a central idea 📚 Analyzing character traits 📚 Referring to the text when answering questions 📚 Using context clues to determine the meaning of new words 📚 Writing an objective summary W R I T I N G O V E R V I E W: After finishing the novel, students will write a creative short story based on the novel.
