Semester Overview (see syllabus for a week-by-week schedule): We will study the second half of third-grade English language arts. In reading, we will read historical accounts, sequence, identify cause and effect, identify main ideas and use text evidence to support our thoughts, read fiction and explore characterization, and compare and contrast books from a series. In writing, we will explore grammar, write an informational essay, and delve into fiction writing. Our lessons will include phonics to strengthen reading and spelling. Our class will begin with a discussion, modeling from me, group work, and independent work. We will also play learning games, watch videos usually created by myself, and read books. Some of these books will be online.
