Assessment
All of our physical education courses are graded based on participation, students earn a certificate for their engagement and effort. Certificates are awarded based on the student's willingness to participate, try new activities, and contribute positively to the class environment. This approach encourages all children, regardless of their athletic abilities, to take part in physical activities and emphasizes the importance of staying active for overall health and well-being. The certificate serves as recognition of their commitment to physical fitness and as a reminder of the value of staying active beyond the classroom.

Class Experience

Welcome to 6 weeks of FUN and FITNESS!

Class will always begin by getting our muscles warmed up. I will guide your child through the warm-up and stretching. Safety first! Next, I will model and perform a variety of exercises for both our upper and lower body. We will use our “dumbbells” (2 water bottles will work just fine!- or optional light dumbbells). The exercises and workouts will be fresh and fun each video! After 6 weeks, your child will have learned a minimum of 50 different exercises/variations of common strength and cardio movements. Join part 2 (an additional 6 weeks), and they will learn over 100! All exercises can be modified to ensure each child is feeling successful and strong! Finally, class will finish with a cool down stretch and conversation. You're child will have access to 15 VIDEO WORKOUTS, plus so many more learning opportunities and GAMES!

Each week there will be learning opportunities and games to learn muscle names, healthy habits, ways to stay active, and nutrition facts. There will also be opportunities to engage with me on your own schedule! These will be in the form of interactive discussion posts, video sharing (if comfortable and wanting feedback from me), trivia, weekly challenges (such as trying to eat food from each color of the rainbow), and playing games (such as "fact or fiction" and "describe it"). My goal is for there to be lots of physical activity, engagement, and learning!

You can expect your child to receive lots of encouragement and praise throughout our workout. Both my teaching and coaching style center around giving each child a lot of individual attention. In a self paced class, learners will be encouraged to submit short video clips of their exercises if they would like any feedback on form or technique. They will finish each workout video feeling excited about fitness, and with a new workout routine they can practice at home!

There will be 2-3 workout videos per week or whenever you're ready... you will have access to the course for an entire year!

Units of Study:
Full Body Workout (FB), High Intensity Interval Training Workout (HIIT),“bicep”, Kahoot Trivia

Learning Goals
My goal for your child is to encourage a love for physical exercise and health by pouring my own love and passion into them! I seek to do this by providing an engaging and upbeat workout that your child will look forward to every week!

Improvement in the areas of strength, balance, and agility.

They will also be working towards achieving the daily physical activity recommendations of both the CDC and American Heart Association. According to the CDC, it is recommended that children and adolescents ages (6-17 years) should do 60 minutes or more of moderate-to-vigorous intensity physical activity each day, including daily aerobic – and activities that strengthen bones (like running or jumping) – 3 days each week, and that build muscles (like climbing or doing push-ups) – 3 days each week."

According to the American Heart Association:

Active kids are more likely to have:
-a healthy weight
-stronger, healthier bones and muscles
-better heart and brain health
-improved brain function, including memory, attention and problem-solving
-better school attendance and academic performance, especially in math, reading and writing
-lower long-term risk of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and some kinds of cancer
-less stress and fewer symptoms of anxiety and depression
-less inappropriate and distracting classroom behavior
-improved mental health and psychological well-being, including confidence and self-esteem
