Class Experience
This is a 4-week flex course that teaches us to move our bodies in fun ways while exercising! Exercises are viewed on YouTube and are pre-recorded, so that students can access them anytime through the week. This class is influenced by yoga, pilates, and light weight lifting using household objects or just body weight. In every class, we will do the following: -Warm up our body for movement, including stretching and breathing. -Work on each major part of our body, such as focusing on the upper body including arms, the lower body, including legs, and then our core, which includes our stomach and abs. -For each exercise, the teacher demonstrates how to do each one in the workout video. We do the same exercise between 5-20 times before we move onto the next one. -Students will interact with the teacher by going through exercises with the teacher. -Nearpod lessons that are student paced will tell learners to stop and do an activity throughout the workout. -At the end of the exercises, Discussion Questions and Discussion Challenges will be posted in the classroom and students can interact with others by responding to one post a week. Instructor will interact with students by responding to Discussion Questions and Challenges also. Here is a schedule of what we will focus on each week: Week 1: Students will learn how to move their upper body, learning specifically lunges with proper form. Students will reflect on their favorite body part to work out by answering the Discussion Questions. Week 2: Students will learn how to do some fun yoga poses such as warrior one and tree pose. They will practice their balance and use their breathing to help them relax and stay in poses. They will reflect on this in their Discussion Challenge. Week 3: Students will learn how to do squats, using proper form while strengthening our legs. Students will reflect on their form in the Discussion Challenge. Week 4: In this class, students will learn some ab stabilizer exercises such as the side crunches. Students will continue to practice how to hold a plank. Students will also get a chance to master their plank and reflect on their progress on this exercise in their Discussion Challenge. Student Engagement: -Students interact with other learners and instructor via the Discussion Questions and Challenge Questions. -Students interact with instructor through answering questions in Nearpod lessons. There will be instructor checkpoints throughout the exercise movements using Nearpod Lessons. Nearpod instructs the student when to pause the exercise video to check in through matching games, free response, and other fun activities. This way, students can share how they are feeling about exercises and recall the different body parts they are using to move their bodies. Each week, students will do the following: -Have access to the pre-recorded exercises on Saturday with provided YouTube Link. -Open up Nearpod on your computer with provided classroom code. -Follow Nearpod lessons, which will ask questions and alert learner on when to start the exercise video. -Start the exercise video and pause again where Nearpod tells you to pause. -Complete Nearpod games and questions. -Finish the exercise video. -Complete Discussion Questions and or Discussion Challenges in the Classroom.

Parental Guidance
Parents, please be aware that this is an exercise class and safety considerations will need to be kept in mind. Students are responsible for being safe when doing poses and please note the dangers of not following proper and safe form, as instructed in this class. If exercises are too strenuous, it is advised to follow the modifications in the course or take a break from the exercise. Please listen to your body.
Supply List
A water bottle and a towel to dry off sweat is helpful. Students can also use an exercise mat but this is not necessary if they are comfortable working out on a soft floor. If they want, they can find everyday objects like water bottles or books to use when we practice weight lifting exercises. They can also use body weight with this. Access to a computer to view videos, answer discussion and discussion challenge questions, and access to Nearpod will be helpful. It may be helpful to have an adult input the class code for Nearpod lessons depending on the age of the student.
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been teaching students, ages K-8th grade, for all subjects, including physical education and have my Multiple Subject Credential. I have taught various exercise and music and movement classes in school, including yoga, barre, weight lifting, and pilates, and love to find ways for kids of all ages to move their bodies. I have been an avid lover of fitness starting at the age of 7, participating in pilates, weight lifting, barre and yoga classes for many years to help with meditation, strengthening my body, and stress relief. I'm excited to exercise with you!
