In this 20-week course on Algebra 1, students will receive the full Algebra 1 curriculum within the videos posted. Each video will be approximately 15-20 minutes. Within each video, we will go over homework, take notes on the next lesson, complete problems related to the lesson, and be given homework questions to go over in the next video. In the school year of 2021-2022, I taught mathematics to 5th-7th grade at a local middle school in Williamstown, WV. I am a certified school teacher with certification in Ohio and West Virginia. Mathematics has always been a strong subject of mine that I have a passion for. I've also tutored high school mathematics in-person to help students study for the ACT.
Homework Offered
Students will have a small amount of homework to complete for their success in the class. It will be individual work. Typically, I'll assign 5-10 homework questions at maximum.2 - 4 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students will learn eight chapters of Algebra which include a mid-chapter quiz, a test, and homework assignments for each lesson. Homework assignments will be graded based on completion. Students will receive a letter grade based on the aforementioned assignments. Assignment Weights: Homework (30%) Quizzes (20%) Tests (50%) This scale is subject to change only to benefit the students.Grades Offered
Students will need a device to watch recordings from, access to our Outschool class page, pencils/pens, a red pen, and a notebook or two.
At times, students will be given educational Youtube videos to watch which relate to the topics we discuss. Links to these videos will be posted on the classroom page when they relate to topics discussed in class recordings. Zoom will be used to create class recordings. While recording, I will be screen sharing PowerPoints as well as notes on Microsoft Whiteboard.
Though the book is not required for the course, it could be useful. I'm using Pearson's Algebra 1 Common Core textbook for this class.
