Through the use of learning materials such as slides, GIFs, gestures, and props, most students should be able to understand the sentence frames and vocabulary. It is suitable for any introductory-level French student, as well as complete beginners. The class will be structured as followed: - Introducing ourselves (“Je m’appelle ______.”) - Repetition of target vocabulary (food) in isolation, followed by usage in a sentence: “Il/elle mange un(e) _____.” (He/she eats ______.) - Q & A : modeled by teacher, then practiced by students (“Qu’est-ce qu’il/elle mange?” [What does he/she eat?] —> “Il/elle mange ____…” = [He/she eats _____.] - Introduction to seven typical Thanksgiving foods in French: turkey, pie, mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn, cranberries, green beans. - How to say “I am thankful.”
Learning Goals
Students will gain confidence in speaking French! They will learn the French names for 7 Thanksgiving food vocabulary words, use the sentence frame “Il/elle mange….” to talk about what people eat, and say if they like or dislike these foods.
