How do animals survive the winter? What about in the arctic and Antarctica? What happens to insects and snakes in the winter? Why do baby penguins look so different from adult penguins? Learn about the different strategies and adaptations animals use to get through the winter and cold weather. We will cover different ways animals deal with cold temperatures, from heavy coats to migration. This class is a mixture of lecture with slides and discussion questions. Students will be encouraged to compare themselves to the animals and imagine what life would be like as a seal on an Antarctic ice flow. No background knowledge is needed.

Parental Guidance
It is not a goal of mine to discuss global warming and global climate change, however I will talk about it if students have questions. We are focusing on the awesome ways that animals survive, not the coming threats to that survival.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
